The school nurse's primary role is to promote good health for the school's students. As a member of the educational team, the school nurse enhances students' potential for attendance, class participation and learning by addressing medical conditions that may influence the students' ablility to learn.
The school nurse's primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Student Health Records-records are monitored for health concerns as well as immunization compliance. The Ohio Department of Health immunization requirements are enforced.
Screenings-routine screenings offered at St. Albert's include vision screening, hearing screening and pre-kindergarten screening. Other screenings offered include blood pressure, height and weight, and oral/dental.
Classroom Presentations-topics presented by the school nurse include a hand washing program, dental health and growth and development.
